PATENT-PENDING DESIGNever improving TECHNOLOGY

An unobtrusive razor head design with as little elements as possible - there are just three parts to solve our unique razor head. With a vast user testing programme and ever improving biotechnology, we will work to iterate the model to guarantee both environmental impact and the shaving experience is continually optimised.

With disposable culture showing no signs of slowing, low-carbon, naturally degrading swap outs are essential in offering sustainable solutions to the mass market.

We have invested years developing a razor that has the highest possible positive impact that a disposable product can have. Saving 6.6kt of CO2eq each year and yielding no toxic compounds, the Nimbi razor has a 90+% better impact than the market leading disposable razor. We received a "valid, positive and significant" impact rating in the LCA conducted and certified by Impact Forecast, the European standard.

On the basis of the ASTM 6691 testing results, we also know that the relative biodegradation in sea water at 86F (30C) has proceeded to 54–68 % for the Nimbi material in 364 days. This proves that sea water contains microbes which can digest our material, one of the most challenging environments for degradation. Sadly, plastic waste leaks out of household waste collection. An estimated 12 million tonnes of plastic enters the oceans each year, making the marine environment one of the most affected by plastic pollution.

ImpactCOMPOSTABILITY explained

* The Nimbi material is certified compostable ASTM D6400 and capable of breaking down into CO2, water, inorganic compounds and biomass in a natural compost environment. The breakdown process usually takes about 90 DAYS in the optimal composting conditions.

NB: Due to the blade, we would never recommend disposing of the razor in a food bin.

We are in the process of undertaking more tests to better understand and advise on the disposal of our razor, which is dependent on municipal waste management of your local area.

Frequently asked questions

001
What is the razor made from?

We use just one material to house the blade and it is plastic-free. The material we use is bio-based and compostable according to ASTM D6400.

002
What about the blade, does that compost?

No, the blades are made from a premium Japanese type of steel. Metal does not compost and as it’s stainless steel, it’s designed to not rust or erode.

003
How do I look after my razor?

Make the most out of your razor and get as many shaves as possible out of it. The more shaves you get from each disposable, the fewer material is used per shave. To make the most out of your razor, clean and dry it after each use. This helps preserve the quality of the steel. Store your razor in a dry place, rather than keeping it in a damp place such, as in the shower.

004
Where to throw the razor out?

Apart from the blade, our razor is made from a mono material which is compostable according to ASTM D6400. This certificate tells us that the material will disintegrate in 12 weeks, and compost entirely within 6 months in an industrial composting facility. Here it will turn into CO2, water and biomass (compost). Due to the metal blade, our razors cannot go into home composting or organic waste collection. We are working on a dedicated collection scheme that allows us to compost the handles and separate the blades. For the time being, you are best off disposing of your razor in your general waste.

005
When will I get my razor?

We are currently in commercial production and aim to dispatch our first batch of product in July 2024.

006
How do I contact Nimbi?

We would love to hear from you with any question or query. You can email us on info@nimbi.supply or message us on our social channels.

007
What is a Beta model?

The concept of Nimbi is to continually improve our design, manufacturing and product as technology and resources improve and develop. Beta means this is our debut model. Although it has been tested, it is our first batch, which may not be perfect. As we build feedback from our shavers, we will iterate and perfect the shave quality along with continually improving our environmental impact.
